Please meet a gifted artist, one of my dearest
friends, Suzanne Udell Levinger. We went o college together, almost roommates. Like many of us, there have been twists and turns along the way to 'doing' out artwork, but Suzanne HAS to paint. She HAS to create. These beautiful mixed media paintings are just a small sample from her portfolio.
Give her a shout out. You can see more of her work @:

Marla and Seaglass

Please meet 'Seaglassthings'. Marla's work is in the 'Handbook to Handmade', Vol. 3, along with, 34 other talented artists from around the country (including 'moi') and the UK. Last night Marla told us how her 3 year old daughter accidentally spilled water on her precious, new book. The back cover peeled away and the pages are somewhat wavy. She was pretty upset and thought she would try to move her inventory to purchase another copy. I thought that the book could be salvaged by possibly putting some parchment in between the pages and then putting it under a stack of heavy books for a day or so. In theory, it seems like a good idea. But, Marla 'got it', that in the large scheme of things the wavy pages couldn't take away the beauty of any ones' work and, that she had a story to tell. So, here is her shop @: http://www.seaglassthings.etsy.com/

Room With a View

This is what it looks like AGAIN from one of my bedroom windows. Winter is still here and pretty, pretty, pretty as the falling snow was yesterday here in the Northeast, and pretty as it is today, this is still the view from one of my bedroom windows.

I long to feel the sun on my face and to at least see some buds on the trees. But, one day at a time. We're still very much in the thick of Winter!
You can see this photo in my Etsy shop!

Handbook to Handmade, Volume III

Here it is!!!The 'Hand book to Handmade' Volume III. All of the pictures from the 35 artists came out just BEAUTIFUL!!! The size of the book is perfect to carry around and use as an amazing promotional tool. I opened the package at my friend Sallys' house (in her brand new kitchen..stunning!), and she was thrilled to see all the gifted artists represented in Volume III. So, Timothy Adam, I think we can, from coast to coast, give you a huge round of applause!

You can click on the pictures to get a bigger view of the pages....although, they are all posted here on the blog. You can also purchase your own copy from Timothy @:

Hibernating

Don't you feel like hiding under the covers during the Winter months sometimes???? My pretty girl has the right idea.
Well, the 'Handbook to Handmade' should come in the mail on Tuesday, at which point I will begin to post these talented artists as I figure out the many layers of this blog. I think I need some more help. There's always, Sid, in Pune India. As he says, I'll give him a ping!

In honor of the 'Best in Show' this past week in New York, these are my personal choices for the best. That's Murray on the left and Mabel above. They are Shelties and belong to my brother and sister-in-law. Can't beat those faces...sorry Uno!

This is the cover of Volume III of 'The Handbook to Handmade'. At the moment not only am I proud to be on the cover of this gorgeous book and to be presented with 35 other talented artists from around the country and the UK, BUT, I am also VERY proud that with some help from the tech guy @ Verizon, I was able to save this picture from Tim's web site and get it to this blog. I am somewhat challenged in the copy/paste area (again, please no laughing).

I should have this book in my hands TODAY (Tim just posted a comment!) and not only will I have a coffee table gorgeous book to show off my work, but I have met an AMAZING community of fellow 'Etsians', and I will be showing off their work as well. Each one as unique and as different as a snowflake. In the most organic way, a true community is growing from the on-line thread where we have all met...and MAYBE, one day we will meet in person.

The book can be bought for $28 from http://www.timothyadamdesigns.etsy.com/.

This is a self-portrait of my son, Edward. He is a freshman at the New England Art Institute in their Animation program. He is a great kid. Yesterday, he was scheduled to go to Harvard and meet other students there for a project they are working on. He and his friend were driving. They got lost and simply could not find their way to Harvard. The Boston area is a tough place for a novice driver (not him) to get around. It is easy to get lost. But, they should have had the directions from their dorm in Weston. After all, these are the children of the computer age, they could have Googled it, logged onto RandMcnally.com, or Mapquest. He was REALLY upset with himself for not being prepared. Have we not all been there? I felt his pain, but I also felt that it may have been a 'lightbulb' moment for him, because it meant alot, it was imortant. Well, hopefully, he'll get another chance to go to Harvard today, this time taking public tansportation. I'll keep you posted on that one.

This photograph caused quite a stir last night in Etsyland. It was on the front page of the Esty web site, which, apparently s a very big deal. A woman whose shop is called Femputer (http://www.femputer.etsy.com/) created a lovely treasury of 12 artists. There are hundreds of treasuries on Etsy, people pay to have their work showcased in their category and hope and pray that their work will be noticed...and without paying, without scheduling, this photo of a small architectural detail on the bridge at 72nd street in Central Park, made it to the front! What a wonderful gift!!!

It's new to me....

This is my third attempt at posting, no laughing please...this is new territory right now, although, I'm certain that in time blogging will become second nature. I am trying to get the pictures smaller, and things lined up the way I want, there are links and other 'things' I have to do to show off all the great artists I've met on Etsy. But, all of that, in time. For right now, I have to thank my friend in Pune, India, Siddharth Dawara for getting me going on this and for helping me out along the way. He posted a beautiful write up on his blog this morning:
Thank you Sid, you are a true prince among men!
I am going to be published in the Etsy 'Handbook to Handmade', Volume 3 coming out in a matter of days. The earrings posted here are on the cover. I am published with 35 other talented artists from all over the US and the UK. I have a 2 page spread with 3 or 4 pictures. The book is coffee table gorgeous. A very big round of applause goes to Timothy Adam for his boundless energy, vision and enthusiasm for putting together the first 3 Volumes. As of earlier today, the 35 slots for Volume 4 were filled!. I know that he is already thinking about, Volume 5, 6, 7.....
So, check out my shop on Etsy:
It's a new frontier.....
