Out of Town....

I will be out of town until Sunday. These two will be left to their own devices for a couple of days, short of my beloved friends who will be stopping by to feed them and scoop their poop. I hate leaving them. Big Kitty is shedding and gets fur balls. Terrible, terrible. But, my pals said that they would brush him, so, it's all good.

For those of you familiar with the Entrecard system, the competition continues to be fierce in the Art category and I've been pushed back by the BEAUTIFUL work from Laketrees, Smadar's Treasure, Comic Legends and Lure, just to name a few...there are more. I have no idea how I will fare over the next couple of days with my standing as I will have limited access to a computer to stay on top of my dropping EC's. I may fall like a lead balloon, but I'm praying to stay somewhat level, not take too much of a hit by actually having a life outside of cyber-space. I'll keep you posted, as they say.

By the by, Entrecard has a new e-book for all to see and it includes information on their new feature, 'add a blog'. Very informative and well thought out. Should be VERY helpful for the newbies.

Words for Wednesday from the Archives

When I was in the 4th grade, I read a book by Louisa May Alcott, called 'An Old Fashioned Girl'. Somewhat fitting, as I have mentioned that ON OCCASION, I think I may have been born in the wrong era, as my love for antiques and Victorian houses (all things old), is very much part of who I am. The book reports ALWAYS had covers with drawings. My material of choice at the time was CRAYPAS, or oil pastels. You could layer them and then make designs by scratching the top layer. Anywho, jumping ahead quite a few years, with lots of training in Fine Arts, college behind me, I did this poster for an off Broadway production called 'El Shaddai'. It was a beautifully written musical about the life of Daniel. I thought the best way to go, was to copy Michelangelo's 'Daniel' from the Sistine Chapel. Well, I completely fell in-love, with Daniel, that is. He is done in mixed media, watercolor, pastel, pastel pencil, colored pencil, just about everything BUT Craypas. I couldn't help but put these two pictures together, because they're both a part of me. An old fashioned girl, with faith. Prayerfully, if ever I wind up in the lions den, I'll be just fine....eyes and heart set like a flint toward heaven....

I'm on the Cover of the Etsy, 'Handbook to Handmade', Vol. 6

Timothy Adam is the brainchild behind the Etsy, ' Handbook to Handmade'. This is the 6th Volume and my second time in the book (Vol. 3). I am previewing my photographs in this coffee table gorgeous book. The Gerbera Daisy in the bottom right corner is one of my photographs that is in the book, and, happily, on the cover as well. I am in the BEST OF COMPANY with 35 other artists extra-ordinaire from around the world. Another huge round of applause for Tim.

Here is a beautiful poem that was written for me by 'The Muse' from Diavapreneur.

'I once met a wonderful woman named Amy,
whose divine creations she made with such ease,
for the yearning in her soul was to such a great degree,
that she HAD to make these lovely things come to be...
and so now you have...here, I see
been placed on the cover of ETSY !

Swans

Stillhouse Cove in Pawtuxet Village (one of the oldest towns in Rhode Island), is where the fresh water of the Pawtuxet River meets the salt water of the bay leading to the ocean. We see the swans every year from Spring to late Fall. We sometimes see hundreds of them in the Cove. I refer to it as the annual swan convention. Their signets, line up behind them paddling away! No little ones in sight yet, but, any minute now! These two gave me quite a show yesterday! Aren't they just gorgeous??

Bleeding Hearts

These gorgeous heart shaped flowers, hanging so delicately from a vine, look like tiny lanterns. They totally stole mine...heart that is!

A New Bauble From 'The Puzzle'

I call these lovely baubles, 'Modern Victorian'. I was drawn to the beautiful gold vermeil component. Sometimes, I think that I was born in the wrong era. I love so much of the 'old stuff', antiques, Victorian houses and doorknobs, the exquisite details of days gone by. However, I am aware that we all have different tastes, and that is one lesson I have WELL learned when creating jewelry. So, in this case, with these earrings, the mix of the sleek, simple, strong stem,
mixed with the very detailed vermeil component is a beautiful blend of old and new...hence, 'Modern Victorian'. I am delighted to say that I have my first on-line interview posted today with Raquel Roysdon from Divapreneur. Click here

Portrait of my Grandfather

This is a portrait of my maternal Grandfather. My brother and I called him 'Poppy'. This was drawn from a photo of him when he was well into his 80's. He was the kindest man and we all adored him. He's been gone for a long time now, but I know I can speak for my family when I say that we still miss him like crazy.
