Tulip, Danni and Beach Dog

I love taking pictures of animals, as you already know. The Kitty's, of course, cows, horses, swans, insects as well. I need to start taking more photos of dogs. These 3 alone, unique as they are, each have at least one thing in common....with one look they can see deep into your very soul.

The top dog, 'Tulip', is the newest member of my extended family. Chuckie and Lorraine are God-parents to Edward, Jimmy officiated at their son, Isaac's wedding to the beautiful Melissa last September. Full circle moments coming round and back around. They LOVE pugs. They have lost a couple over the past few years and Lorraine simply needs to have a puppy to love. So meet their flower child 'Tulip'. She is 2 years of age. I mean, seriously, look at THAT face!!!

The middle dog, 'Danni' is a rescue. She was found wandering on the thruway in Boston, tired, skinny, matted, severely neglected. My friend Jenny recently lost her precious 'Miracle', and was ready for a new dog to love. She found Danni at a shelter in Fall River, www.foreverpaws.com. Danni is 10 years of age and pretty deaf. She obviously has had some health issues, but, her face speaks volumes. Is she not gorgeous? Jenny faces daily challenges with her, but Danni landed in just the right home with Jenny!!

The bottom dog, affectionately know as 'Beach Dog', was one big puppy. She is about 9 years old and I just fell in love with that face while walking on the beach one day this summer. She looks so wise!!! So, here's to our four legged friends whole grab our hearts, and become, simply 'family'.

Hot Cat in the City

It's been hot...can't really complain, won't change anything. I am blessed to be able to jump into my neighbor's pool and stay as long as I want. It's the local watering hole, so you never know who is going to show up, and it's been alot of fun. But, the cats are hot, and Big Kitty needs to be brushed everyday as he is shedding an immense amount of fur on a daily basis. Little Kitty, not so much. BK loves to be groomed. Girl Whirl (aka, Little Kitty), again, not so much. This photo is from the archives. Girl Whirl sits under the shadows of the aloe plants to cool off. I think her face says it all....

Check out These Babies....

Here is my first photo of the cherry tomatoes. First photo, yes, but we have been eating them for a couple of weeks now. However, with this July being recorded as the rainiest in 100 years, we have been hit with a fungus called 'blight'. It sounds very ominous, because it is. ' A strain of the fungus that caused the Irish potato famine of the 1840's is on the loose in Rhode Island and is damaging potato and tomato crops,' as reported in the Providence Journal. Unfortunately, my tomatoes have been hit with 'the blight', and daily, I have been cutting back more and more of the molded leaves. It feels like a losing battle, even though the tomatoes are still growing and flowering. It is the leaves which carry the mold. The basil, oregano and parsley are fine. I am sitting here looking at some threatening clouds rolling in. Ahhhh, the learning curve of a City girl in the suburbs and her victory garden. I'll keep you posted, as they say!!!
