Hearts!!

It's a sweet day, Valentine's Day. There's the sentiment of love between two people. Sometimes there's chocolate involved, there is the possibility of roses or even diamonds. I offer you 'Bleeding Hearts'. A beautiful tiny 'flower' which grows oh so delicately on a vine. I have cards, framed 5x7's or 5x7's which you can frame with your personal choice. Check them out in my Etsy shop. Oh, the endless romantic....click on the photos for more info!

Mom's 85th Birthday

What a milestone, turning 85. Mom has had some real health issues, but she battles on, with swimming and yoga and physical therapy. She lives in a wonderful building in NYC, which is a great place for anyone to live, but it is specifically for Seniors. There are bells and whistles everywhere if she needs help. She has a great apartment and has made some friends, some who have passed, and others, some well into their 90's, who put one foot in front of the other everyday and live their already very full lives. There is a private room in her building for special events or dinners, which holds 12 people and this is where we shared a lovely evening. This is what Mom wanted.

I had an idea to make Mom a collage of her life, so I called on the family to send in the pictures. After scanning, zooming, editing, enhancing, lightening, brightening, cropping, carefully tearing, and finally rubber cementing, about 100 photos, I wound up with 2 very sizable collages. Similar to putting together a puzzle that you are inventing, I thought that I had gotten myself in way over my head. But, as always, the pictures found their place on each board. It turned out, that one board was 'Us', meaning my generation, my brother, Edward, my nieces, my cousins and their children, standing on the family that came before us in the other collage. Mom can't see very well, but she knew what it was and she cried. She understood that so many people love her, have loved her, will always love her, as she too, has loved, and will continue to love so many of us as well. It was a special night for a special lady. Happy Birthday Mom!

(The photos of the collage are taken from the center of each one...these are not the full boards!)

This is a partial view from inside my warm kitchen, looking outside to the evergreens laden with snow. What a striking contrast! Had to take the photo!

Handmadeology....Coming Soon!!!

I am not surprised. Tim Adam, brainchild, continues to create, teach, inspire. Tim's latest project, Handmadeology, is on the horizon. Tim will begin a series of teachings, starting January 26th, on Handmadeology which is the science of handmade. Tim has garnered attention with the depth of his computer savvy to draw business to his own Etsy shop, and has generously shared that information with anyone who will take the time to listen. Tim teaches in a way which is uncomplicated and modest, as he sincerely wants to see each of us to succeed in selling our handmade goods on-line.

I first met Tim when he was just getting warmed up with the Etsy, 'Handbook to Handmade ' and was most pleasantly surprised to see how inclusive and enthusiastic he was about everybody, and again, anybody who wanted to jump on board. He has since really sharpened his focus on his blog to help all of us generate more traffic to our blogs, Etsy and ArtFire shops, and this is still just the tip of the iceberg. Tim is a self taught metal artist who creates modern unique jewelry, art, furniture clocks jewelry displays and much more. Check it out people...

Baubles!!

The top two baubles are sleek, delicate dangles, which will garner lots of attention from the sparkle of a light amethyst, and the light light colorado topaz or champagne cubic zirconia briolette 3/4" long. It is a perfect match with the gold vermeil stem, 7/8" in length. Very light weight even with it's 2 5/8" length, with the 14k gold filled hook.

The photos of the bottom baubles are so pretty on!! Light weight, chandelier, very delicate, 5 champagne colored cubic zirconia flat briolettes, separated with gold vermeil nuggets, hanging from a featherweight gold vermeil component with 28 gauge wire. These can dress up any outfit, and will also garner lots of attention with the natural sparkle from the CZ's. There is a definite left and a right, so that these chandeliers face forward! 2 3/8" with the 14K gold filled hook. You can find these baubles and more in my Etsy shop. A portion of every sale is donated to JDRF.

The Sixth Winner of the Compassionate Blog Award goes to...

'I have loved and been in awe of Amy's work since I first found her blog months ago. Her art is superb, her heart even bigger. A portion of the sale of Amy's artwork goes to the support of Juvenile Diabetes. An artist who contributes to the larger world touches me deeply, and such an important cause. I am in awe. Blessings to you dear Amy, keep shining your light, your work will help more people than you will ever know.'

If Winter Had a Flower...

...it might look like this, with shades of blue to remind us that it's cold outside, yet strong enough to live. It can weather the wind as well by letting the 'hawk' move it, but not blow it over. What name would you give it? I'll pick a winner and send you 6 greeting cards (blank inside) , with this drawing, signed and dated, with the winning name. I will also post it in my Etsy shop!! Drawn with pastels and oil pastels.
