With a background in Fine Arts, my eye is well trained to notice the smallest of details. Photography is a passion. With the advent of the digital age, I use that same trained eye through the monitor of my digital camera, from macro shots to sweeping landscapes while enjoying the full range of editing.
Well, Happy 20th Birthday Edward! My son, the 'artiste', created this piece with the advances of photoshop, and was using it as his Facebook profile picture for a while (YIKES!). As interesting as this rendition of 'The Joker' is, Edward is, in my humble opinion, even a more interesting character. We have watched him really grow-up in many ways, even these past couple of months. As a child of the computer age, he 'gets it', he studies it, he wants more and more of it. Like the many layers applied to this piece of Edward as 'The Joker', the many layers of the real Edward are being applied to his Spirit and soul daily. He's still a work-in-progress, no joke!
A true sign of the end of summer are the tall, gorgeous sunflowers we see around now. As an artist, I always think of Van Gogh, O'Keefe, and their painted masterpieces. This shot, is the 'pre-quel', the 'before the original', 'how did they get that way' photo. In it's intricacies, I am astounded by the beauty and detail, by the overlapping green petals/leafs which will be the foundation of this bright, strong, tall, vibrant yellow flower.
