Leaving Entrecard!

I have been with Entrecard for a couple of years now and have met some wonderfully talented writers, artists, craftspeople, cooks, moms, dads, business people, photographers, fashionistas, cat lovers, animal lovers, funny people, politicos, historians, astrologers, poets...just to name a few. For those of you who have really spent time dropping EC's, you will understand when I say that I want my time back. Hence, I have taken it. I am an artist, photographer, jewelry maker, wife, and mother of a son who lives with Type 1 diabetes. I want all my time to tend to these most important things in my life and my heart. I will keep the blog, so please do drop by, leave a comment if you are so inspired.

Happy 21st Birthday!!!!

Today, 21 years ago, at 8AM, I pushed out of my little body, a screaming 5lb, 6 1/2 oz. bouncing baby boy. Now here we are, 21 years later, and he is a kind, funny, artistically gifted, hard working, grounded, very handsome young man.

Dad and I wish you many more blessed, joyous, healthy, creative and prosperous days!!

Night Sky in Lower Manhattan

September 11, 2010

From dusk on Saturday 9/11 until dawn on Sunday 9/12, the Municipal Art Society will again pay tribute to those who died on 9/11 by projecting twin beams of light into the sky above lower Manhattan. Illuminated by more than 40 xenon light bulbs, the rays—which evoke the shape and orientation of the Twin Towers—are the strongest shafts of light ever projected from Earth into the night sky. For the best viewing, just look south from any avenue on the west side of Manhattan.

Providence Open Market, Saturday, September 11

The Providence Open Market, now in it's 4th season, is the city's only Open-Air Market where you can shop for handmade artisan goods and fine art. Now located at the picturesque Lippitt Park, on the East Side of Providence, at the juncture of Hope Street and Blackstone Blvd., where Providence borders on Pawtucket.

Come join me, as I share a tent space with 'Dizzie Lizzie's Cookies', on Saturday, September 11, from 10-4!!!!

I must add that I remember, and mourn for all that was lost on September 11, 9 years ago.
At the same time, I am so humbled seeing the whole area of the World Trade come back to life in miraculous ways. I still openly weep.

The Blowing of the Shofar!!

A shofar is an instrument made from the horn of a ram or other kosher animal. It was used in ancient Israel to announce the New Moon (Rosh Chodesh) and call people together. It was also blown on Rosh Hashanah, marking the beginning of the New Year, signifying both need to wake up to the call to repentance, and in connection with the portion read on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, the Binding of Isaac (Genesis, chapter 22) in which Abraham sacrifices a ram in place of his son, Isaac.

Gray on Gray...

I noticed Girl Whirl sitting by some of the large glass vases where I have 'contained' my collection of beach rocks...a great photo-op for sure, and a chance for you to see what on earth I have done with all those rocks. The doll growing out of one of the vases was a gift from my friend Joyce. I love it as it has beautiful fabrics carefully hand sewn to create this unique piece. I put it in the rock vase because it has hanging threads at the bottom of the piece. Girl Whirl would eat them for sure, and then she would need life saving surgery (ask me how I know this) so I decided to partially bury the doll!!! Anywho, it works for me, and I have managed to keep Girl Whirl safe from all those hanging threads...LOL!!
