The Late Bloomers...

A true sign of the end of summer are the tall, gorgeous sunflowers we see around now. As an artist, I always think of Van Gogh, O'Keefe, and their painted masterpieces. This shot, is the 'pre-quel', the 'before the original', 'how did they get that way' photo. In it's intricacies, I am astounded by the beauty and detail, by the overlapping green petals/leafs which will be the foundation of this bright, strong, tall, vibrant yellow flower.

That is just beautiful!! Plus I just love bright fresh green. No sunflowers here this year except wild ones, so looking forward to your photos as these unfold!

Thank you Anonymous...:))

Heather, the macro setting continues to amaze...yes, granted, these buds are bigger than the 'norm', but the little hairy tentacles are clear as a bell...they ARE interesting...so complex in design...:)))

Ah ha Kim...you and Charlie are so funny...I would LOVE to come over and help...the sunflowers seem to be a gift which give for a long time..I spent some time yesterday @ a farm shooting rows upon rows of flowers...some of the pics even came out...I am happy if I get one good one out of 30!! ...I will be making some into cards...the sunflowers @ the farm, AMAZING, and some way too high up for me to even think of getting a photo...have a wonderful Tuesday...:))))

WillOaks, these are flowers from my daily walk by the water...but, like I said to Kim, I did get a couple of good ones from the farm yesterday...played w/ some printouts today...YIPPEE!!!

Thank you IndieCEO...these same flowers tempt me every year to shoot them, and the good shots have eluded me...until now...very happy w/ the way these came out..:))

Thank you so much Jackie!!!...I think that I will make cards of the top one...the angle is kinda neat...what I have learned, when printing out my pics, is that they come out 'bigger' than what is on my screen, so, I have to go back into the camera and re-edit...these just blow me away w/ their complex and graceful construction..:))
