First Bloom

We planted a number of Hostas in the front of the house 3 summers ago, and with patience on the front burner when it comes to gardening, I was thrilled to not only see how full they had become this year, but, alas, they have given us their first strong and beautiful blooms!!!

I didn't know hostas could bloom like that; what a lovely lavender color. Must be that green thumb of yours at work!

Jennie, I have seen many a hosta bloom, but their flower grows on a long thin stem, far far away from the plant...these came in so upright and strong, I had to take note...these were small green and white hostas which seemed to have tripled in size when they popped up in late spring...it's a wonder to me...:)))

I was never one for hostas, but these blooms are beautiful! When I first saw the picture, I thought it was a water hyacinth!

Thank you Suz...so glad that you took the time to take a look/see...the garden remains a work in progress...the beetles and I are warring right now as they are having afield day w/ the basil, but I did pick the first tomatoes...I'm going to have a ton of tomatoes...!!!!!

I have to agree w/ you Lisa...the flowers are so far away from the plant, and they lean over, but these came up straight and strong...I can only hope for somewhat of the 'same' thing w/ next years bloom!!!
