Late August at the Beach...

We know that our days at our beloved Matunuck Beach are numbered. We hope and pray every year for great weekend weather straight through October. Don't laugh, it has been known to happen. The swells were huge today because of hurricane Danielle, churning out there in the Atlantic. Lots of life guards running up and down the shore, whistles in tow, making sure to keep everyone out of the rip currents. One man did have to be rescued and was bleeding from his head. We heard that he will be okay.

I came home with a full bucket of rocks. I have never, ever done that, so you can imagine the utter self control I exercised (LOL) when I knew that I was done collecting for the day. However, the gift, the true gift were these sea shells which I found. They must have travelled far and wide because I have never, ever seen these kind of shells on our beach...Florida, maybe, not Rhode Island. They were in one micro-section of the beach and I was de-lighted to carefully place them in my bucket, as if I had found the greatest treasure!! I am happy to report that they all made it home in one piece. We go back again for more, late August beach time tomorrow... for joy!!

Awesome shells Amy! My girlfriend just dropped off a baggy of shells from Jamestown- same thing- shells typical of Florida, so weird! I guess all it takes is one good shove from the sea to push those little things up the coast! :)

Thank you Christy Gal...thrilled w/ the finds...YES I will be making cards from these...next week...Jimmy is in on vacation this week as we are moving Edward into his apartment for his senior year of college...I will definitely send you the link...and you will let me know how many...whatever you want...:)))

Tara, so glad that you popped in...we were back @ the beach today and I was sure that someone had put them there (LOL), but it is good to know that your friend found similar shells in Jamestown. I wound up talking to a gal who was scouring the shore for sea glass, which is also rare @ Matunuck...but lo and behold, I even found 2 small pieces, one green, one brown...very small!!!

Pretty shells! I want to make a trip to the beach before fall too. We've been 6 times this year!

Oh Amy, I am just holding my breath and waiting for the sea glass to start rolling in. Next week should prove to be very, very fulfilling for us hunters! I gathered so much from the spring storms of late February and March that I'm still using it now!
