So many of us have been hooked on the nesting eagles in a tree at the fish hatchery in Decorah, Iowa. The wonders of having a webcam in the tree, seeing the eggs hatch, and these 3 precious and endangered eaglets so lovingly protected by both Mama and Papa eagle. Everyone seems to be doing quite well. We continue to watch......
However, when scrolling through the 'Animal Pictures of the Week', from The Daily Telegraph of the United Kingdom, this amazing eagle caught my eye!!!! Is this not a gorgeous, gorgeous bird?? A seven-year-old Philippine Eagle (Pithecopaga jefferyi) named Binay displays its feathers at the Philippine Eagle Centre on the outskirts of Davao City, on the island of Mindanao. The giant forest raptor is endemic to the Philippines and is one of the largest and most powerful eagles in the world. It is however, also one of the world's rarest and most critically endangered, with only 500 pairs remaining in the wild.

Yes indeed it is a gorgeous bird...it is sad to see such a majestic bird's population dwindles to such a small number.
I've checked out the webcam for the first time just now...that is amazing!!! Either the Mom or Dad is sitting with the eaglets...they are all huddled together as the wind is very strong right now. It looks very chilly! I'm sure everyone is fine! I'll have to keep an eye...
Enjoy your weekend Amy, take care!
Cheers
It breaks my heart to even hear of these most majestic birds being endangered...so sad indeed...isn't the webcam FABULOUS..I've been hooked from the second I saw it...AND then, not seeing it all last week, being in NY, then coming back to RI and looking @ those precious eaglets, they've GROWN in one short week...this morning, obviously, all that precipitation from last night was snow...but I know everyone is nice and toasty...glad that you had a look/see...:)))
You too dear Heather, heave a wonderful weekend...XXXXXXX
