I just love Japanese prints (especially landscapes in snow!). They've been a great influence on my work. These are just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing them, Amy

These are so beautiful. Are they from your own collection? They would look great framed and displayed together. I think I have a spot open on the wall behind my mac lol...

Mt Fuji is so beautiful! What gorgeous prints - are they done on silk?

I love these prints as well John..I can see where your work would be influenced by Japanese prints. These were tricky to photograph, but I love the way they came out!!!

Hey Christy Gal...these prints are from one of my choice calendars from this year (Carl Larsson and Vermeer for the other 2),..this is a gorgeous calendar of vintage Japanese woodblocks from Kawasi Hasui. They would be stunning in frames...agreed...I have 10 more!!

Ah ha Sal...Chris was the inspiration for today's post...well, yes, of course, he is absolutely famous!!!

Kathy, as I mentioned to Christy...I'm a serious calendar shopper at the end of each year, and I have found this series of vintage Japanese woodbocks. It hangs in my kitchen, where the colors add greatly to the ambiance!!

Triz...these are so beautifully printed by this gifted artist...the colors, the clarity...reminds me of the colors in some of your work!!

Heather, I felt that these woodblocks were the best representation of winter in an art form....somehow, more beautiful than a good photo...this man had quite the gift!!

Thank you Mrs. Mecomber, I love them as well!!!

Although we have certainly had a fair bit of snow - enough to last us for another twenty years - at least in this proporion, it is still wonderful to see how beautifully nature manages to show us what a magnificent artist she really is. This is certainly the right picture for the best time of the year ... but may I just say brrr!!

wonderful prints Amy
and I agree with Christy...
they would look great framed altogether on a feature wall...
I hope the weather over there is being kind....
Australia is going to be the hottest spot on the world today ..eek..

I can see mount fuji from my terrace at the moment. Not exactly like these ukiyoe but still a wonderful view. It's fully covered in snow at the moment.
I am going to post some photos of Fuji later on today. If you have time, check it out!
By the way, thanks for advertising on my blog.

Beautiful old prints! I have a great affinity to original Japanese and Chinese paintings because they are so very delicate and fragile.
Greetings, Petra

Hey Polly, from Central England...we have seen some of your snow on the news here in the US!!! I agree w/ you that Mother Nature reminds us of what a magnificent artist she is and that is exactly why I posted these gorgeous prints....and I might add, brrrr as well...:))

Hiya Kim...oh these would be gorgeous framed, and like I said to Christy, I have 10 more!!! We saw footage of the wildfires in Australia on the 11 PM news last night...always heartbreaking...hope they have been able to contain them...it has been a harsh Winter Kim, there's no question, but people in other parts of the US have had it much worse than New England...today, we see some melting of the snow, and even a little bit of grass...hope that you are getting some relief by living so close to the shoreline...:))))

Biku, oh my goodness, I''m running over to your blog to see the photos...isn't that something!!! I love your work...very, very original...beautiful!

Greetings to you Petra...I love the colors in this set of 12 prints...very pure and clean...:))

A great influence on me as well(so much so that I ended up with a Japanese wife, but that's a long story)... An artist working in any medium can learn a lot from the level of craftsmanship and the perfect composition of these prints. We have several around the house and I never get tired of them.
