Week #2 in the Garden!!!

It has only been 2 weeks and the garden has really changed!! I've already been putting in stakes to hold up the tomato plants, the Greek oregano is filling in, but I find I am fighting off the beetles, who love to eat the basil. I've put coffee grounds around each plant along w/ some chopped garlic...apparently, they don't like either, so I'll see if it works.

The potted flowers on the stoop in front of the house are so pretty. I have to remind myself, that it is still May/June, and that the foliage will be filling out ALOT over the next couple of months. (Next time, I'll have some pictures of the window boxes.) I put the 'red' mulch in the front of the house and it has made a huge difference in the appearance giving it a 'finished' look and the 'red' is a wonderful addition to our color scheme. I see a huge difference in the newer hostas from all the moisture the mulch provides.

That is a very nice garden you have. I'm sure you'll enjoy the fruit of your harvest when that time comes. Reminds me a bit of the garden we had in Connecticut. I had raised beds with sunken pathways between.

Thank you Secondary Roads...I just put in 24 bamboo stakes to holdup the tomato vines...they are literally shooting up...I recently finished the Greek oregano from last summers along w/ the cherry tomatoes I had frozen (they cook down beautifully w/ added sauce)...still have plenty of basil from last years haul...I like the sound of the sunken pathways in Connecticut...hope you had a great weekend!!

Fabulous garden...and growing like a "bad weed" :0) especially for this time of the year!!! Gorgeous potted plants love the color...

My wild rose hedged is actually blooming...it is amazing how far ahead of the season that is!!! Typically I would have just finished cutting them back...& my hosta & fern plants are huge right now!

Your gardens look as though you give them loving care! :0)

Cheers

It looks great. We're trying to grow some plants up here (Canada) and they're not doing so well. Too cool and rainy still. :( I hope your garden works!

Hi Amy, your garden is looking amazing- I can't believe how big everything has gotten in such a short period of time! I just got my plants into the ground on Monday and I think they've already begun to grow.

I planted several hostas that were divied up from larger plants my mom and I dug up last year at my old house- so they're nowhere near as large and lovely as yours, but they are growing and already starting to show signs of blooms, I am excited!
