REFLECTIONS, The Collection

So many of you asked when I presented the 'REFLECTIONS' calendars last Spring and Autumn, can I buy a card, can I buy just one photo?? Well, now, the answer to one of those questions, is a resounding YES! I have compiled all 16 photos into the 'REFLECTIONS' Collection, selling each one individually, in my Etsy shop, Lilleypics!

Each photo is double matted, the cover matte is a Solar White, or bright white, and the secondary matte is Polar White, which is a shade darker, giving each of the photos depth. The greatest challenge I faced listing all of these pictures was taking a photo of a photo AND getting that bright white matte to read as bright. Each photo is backed with foam core and ready to be framed or to be enjoyed 'as is'. The dimension of each matted photo is 14 3/8" square, so, not small!

July, August, August II, September II

June II, April, March, May

June, February II, January, October

September, November, February, December
I discovered that I can ship PRIORITY, as the difference between 'regualar' shipping and PRIORITY, for one print is pennies!! All photos are linked to the Etsy shop, Lilleypics, just click on the highlighted type and enjoy!

REFLECTIONS Upon REFLECTIONS

The 'REFLECTIONS II 2017', limited edition calendar was delivered the day before Thanksgiving...and it began! I have the 'REFLECTIONS II 2017' calendar and the 'REFLECTIONS' Jewish calendar, 2016-2017/5776-5777, both listed in my Etsy shop, Lilleypics, with FREE shippping  in the U.S., for this day labeled, CYBER-MONDAY. May it be known, that shipping is normally $10. Both calendars have been well received, most thankfully/gratefully. The Jewish calendar, although we are almost 2 months into 5777, will continue to be sold in the shop until the very last day of 5777. With each passing month, the price will drop.

I am signing and dating every page of every calendar which leaves my home, as the 10"x10" archival quality of the photos can be easily framed! The calendars make a great gift for this busy holiday season!!! So, happy shopping!!

Reflections II 2017, The Calendar

It happened quickly. The inspiration to create a 2017 calendar came upon me, and within a couple of days, it was finished. The kinks had been worked out from the REFLECTIONS, Jewish Calendar, I had some new photos to add, prayed about what scriptures the Lord would have me to use in this critical hour, got back in touch with Jonathan, from Mixbook, (his customer service was so excellent, he was an important reason I have called on Mixbook a second time, along with the rich quality of the finished product), ordered 1 copy to proof, and I was on my way. I received my copy yesterday, and this is why it is a must when publishing anything, to have that all important, 1 copy. All of the pictures, front and back covers, were 'auto-enhanced'. This is a feature which Mixbook offers, but it is one which I do not choose, as I have done all the editing on the photos. Thankfully, I was able to take side by side pics from the Jewish calendar and send them off to Jonathan, along with previous e-mails, confirming that the auto-enhance was not to be applied. I had some minor changes to be made with type size and my back cover statement. Jonathan and I worked everything out, and I placed my order. I am not sure when the calendars will be arriving, probably after Thanksgiving, so I have listed them in my Etsy shop as, 'Pre-order REFLECTIONS II 2017' Limited Edition. So, Psalm 46, and for the month of December, 1 verse from the Book of Isaiah! Whew....

'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.'

Reviews!!!

This is the photo I chose for December/Kislev-Tevet, 2016/5777
So, the 'REFLECTIONS' calendar is up and running. It has been really interesting thus far, putting the work out there, and then just waiting to see what happens. I have received numerous orders through my Etsy shop, Lilleypics. One even shipped to Israel!  I have received some touching feedback, like having a review written up in the NY Times, but I am the only one who knows. Here are a few of the comments:

'Ours arrived yesterday to much fanfare. Full-tilt viewing party to admire the calendar page by beautiful page. So great to see all these images nice and big and well printed. Looking forward to having them up and marking the months ahead. Lovely!'   Dan Friedman, California

'Amy, My husband and I celebrated our 50th anniversary today. We sat out on the patio early this AM and I told him about you and your photography. He wanted to see. So, I showed him the calendar. He and I absolutely LOVE your photos. You are gifted and God certainly put these frames in front of you for you (like no one else) to capture. Thanks for sharing.'  Melinda Rose, Texas

"Museum quality.'  Dee Dee Woodman, Colorado

'It's every bit as beautiful as your blog described.  The photographs are extraordinary, the concept is unique, and the quality is superb.  You are so creative...'  New York City

'Your Jewish calendar is beautiful. Absolutely exquisite and a labor of love.' Susan Benesch, Rhode Island

''Intoxicating, I am overwhelmed with joy for you!'  Suzanne Levinger, Florida

'Look what just fell from Heaven!' Neil Van Wright, New York City

There are a few more months until the calendar begins in October. I have plenty in in the wings, awaiting their new homes...to be continued...

'The scepter will not depart from Judah,
nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,
until he to whom it belong shall come
and the obedience of the nations shall be his.'

'Reflections', Jewish Calendar

Front Cover
Back Cover
October-January, 2016-2017/5777
February-May, 2017/5777
June-September, 2017/5777
The discussion began last Summer. Suggestions were coming in. It's time for a book Amy. I want to buy some of your 'Reflection' pictures, are they being sold as cards? You need a 'thing', like choosing a major for college.  I batted a few ideas around with my friend Cornelius. He is an award winning children's book illustrator, and knows a thing or 2 about publishing. Helpful, very helpful, but, I still did not know what to do with the pictures to bump them up a few notches from a $4 card. Then, one day in January, like a golden nugget spilling into my spirit, the inspiration came. Make a calendar using the 'Reflection' series of photos, and use the Jewish calendar year. Well, everything inside of me leaped for joy, knowing that this was exactly what I was to do with the pictures. That very day, Cornelius happened to call. 'I've got it, I've got it, I've got it!!!', I said! His response was priceless. I shared the inspiration with a handful of people, and each time, the response was priceless, in the best possible way. I saw the finished calendar in my head, but ohmygoodness, I had quite the journey to get there.

The calendar begins in October 2016/5776, which marks the Jewish New Year, or Rosh Hashanah which literally means, 'The head of the year.' The first full day of the New Year is October 3, 2016/5777. I began by researching Friday night sunset times, which, with candle lighting, marks the beginning of Shabbat, or Sabbath. Initially, I included 21 U.S. cities and Jerusalem. When it came time to transcribe that information onto the computer, it was impossible to include all those cities, given the layout I had chosen. I wound up transcribing the sunset times for Boston, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Jerusalem. Included in the calendar are Jewish Holidays and holidays celebrated in the U.S. and around the globe. All of the Jewish Holidays can be Googled, for those of you not familiar with their meaning(s). 'Transcribing the information onto the computer', being operative words, was where the bulk of the challenges took place.

I have never done a full blown project on the computer. That said, I found a number of web sites which offer, 'make your own calendar'. Everything seemed complicated, really complicated, and I did not know where to begin. I had the pieces of the puzzle, but I was lost. I finally found a wonderful company called Mixbook, and I was on my way. (I have to give them a huge shout out. From the beginning of my communication with them, their customer service was outstanding, and remained so, right up until the calendars were delivered to my front door last week). So many decisions had to be made. Which layout to use for the front and back covers. Which 'Reflection' pictures best represented each month, what scriptures was I to share and where was I to place them? I did not even know how to line things up. But, with prayer, allot of prayer, quietness, patience and perseverance, the calendar started taking on it's own life.

I started working on the calendar in February and I received the first copy, to proof, 2 weeks ago. I was overwhelmed by the quality of the reproduction of the photos, the quality of the card stock used. I say card stock, because it is beyond paper, it is archival. Mixbook did an outstanding job and I am so deeply grateful. I will be calling on them again. Yes, there are a couple of things which I would tweak if I do another calendar next year, but, off she goes! I am selling the 'Reflections' calendar in my Etsy shop, Lilleypics. (click on 'Lilleypics). It is 12" x 12", and spiral bound. The photos are 10" x 10" and would look beautiful in a frame! This calendar is for everyone!!!!!

On the back of the calendar, I said, "It is my prayer, that those of you who see this calendar are inspired, and blessed, knowing that G_d is the painter, as this collection of photographs would not and could not be, without His mighty hand, G_d is the Creator.'

'In your seed, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you obeyed my voice.'

Reflections 2..

Morning light after first snow dusting...
Driving down from Lookout Mountain...
Lookout Mountain..
Autumn sunset...
Autumn sunrise...
Autumn sunrise...(same trees, wider view!!)
Autumn sunset..
It is an app. It is the Diptic App. I have been playing with it for months now, and have finally found that I can enhance, or digitally alter these pics in ways which I never could have imagined! This layout of top and bottom, rather than side by side, makes the pics look like reflections into a lake, a river, a quiet sound, the ocean.  My last 'Reflections' post was well received and some of you even wanted to purchase copies, which is wonderful! These images are being held captive on my iPad for now. I usually print out all of the photos which I sell, from a Kodak kiosk. I have editorial control, the paper is Kodak X-traLife, the quality is, amazingly excellent. There have been advances in the printing process over these past couple of years, so I need to explore how far I can go with Kodak and my iPad.  I have a ton of new work, (thankfully most of it is on my camera card) just from our year and change of living in Centennial. Looks like I have my work cut out for me!!

'As imperceptibly as Grief
The Summer lapsed away—
Too imperceptible at last
To seem like Perfidy—

A Quietness distilled
As Twilight long begun,
Or Nature spending with herself
Sequestered Afternoon—

The Dusk drew earlier in—
The Morning foreign shone—
A courteous, yet harrowing Grace,
As Guest, that would be gone—

And thus, without a Wing
Or service of a Keel
Our Summer made her light escape
Into the Beautiful.'
