Festival Fete, Saturday, June 11th!!!

Festival Fete festivals will be one-of-a-kind, with an extraordinary collection of over 100 Contemporary American Craft artists, strolling entertainment, a farmers market, and children’s crafts and entertainment. In addition, Festival Fete will feature an opportunity for festival attendees to express themselves and experience the thrill of creativity with a specially designed community art project. Festival Fete shows are not just another art festival but a local art happening!

The Violin Shop

I saw this violin shop at the indoor farmers market last year and I knew I had to take some photos. My initial thought was that if I got the right shot, it would make a fabulous card, framed or matted 5x7. Dennis McCarten not only makes violins, but repairs them as well. They hang beautifully, different woods and grains, different sizes, each one with it's own unique story.

Dennis McCarten has been making and repairing instruments for nearly 2 decades. This was a natural evolution from his lifelong love of wood and wood working and his immersion in Irish tradition music. His shop can be found in The Artists Village, 1005 Main Street, Pawtucket, RI.

Pezza Farm Flowers

These photos were taken of the gorgeous bouquets of flowers which the Pezza Farm has been bringing to the Farmer's Market on Tuesdays. The sun was full and bright, and the flowers did the talking. These will be cards by tomorrow! I did tell Doreen Pezza, 'Hey you never know, these could be cards by next week...'. I printed the photos today, and will be on card patrol tomorrow (along w/ filling in some more inventory). I can't wait to show them to the Pezza Family on Tuesday!!

Whole Foods Farmers Market

I am so happy to be part of the Whole Foods, Garden City, Farmer's Market. The response to my handmade cards (now about 40 different cards, along with the framed 5x7's, and matted work) has been wonderful. I so enjoy speaking about my work with the people who 'drop by' my tent, answering any questions they might pose.

We set up our goods, from homemade breads and cookies, to the one and only Schartner Farms,
Buttonwoods Bathworks, (I bought their Lavender Linen Spray, and it is one of the nicest things I could have done for myself...sleeping like a baby people!!) . It is still growing, organically, (no pesticides...LOL), so, if you are in the neighborhood, please do stop by from 3-7PM on Tuesdays.

Violins and the Farmers Market??

Every now and then, something catches my eye, and I can't quite let go it go. Similar to my dairy cow, 'Gal', who caught my eye a couple of summers ago, I saw this violin shop at the indoor farmers market last year and I knew I had to take some photos. My initial thought was that if I got the right shot, it would make a fabulous card, or framed 5x7. Well, today, Jimmy and I ventured over there, because I needed some Gardeners Hand Cream from Earth Essence Herbals, and it was a perfect day to take some shots of the gorgeous violins in Dennis McCarten's shop. He not only makes violins, but repairs them as well. They hang beautifully, different woods and grains, different sizes, each one with it's own story. I wish I had had more time to speak with Dennis, but he had customers. I'll go back, probably with some cards in tow and continue my conversation with the very kind Dennis McCarten.
