So, we went to a place called Dutch Heritage Gardens, about 20 minutes from the house, but pretty much in the middle of no where...on the Palmer Divide. Beautiful rolling hills, ranches, mountains in the background, but still, to us, in the middle of no where. Apparently, they have a 3 day Memorial Day sale every year. That is it, 3 days. We had no idea what to expect. Well, after we got our map of the 4 acres, we too, took our 4 tiered bakers rack, and started making the rounds. We took our time, we discussed, we saw, we chose wisely according to our space, and, we made out like bandits...an awesome sale it was! We are also in awe of the many people around us who were buying multiple bakers racks full of flowers, planters, hanging plants and on and on and on....big skies in Colorado, and big grounds as well. Our haul was small in comparison, but, I left the garden center a very happy camper.

Never believe me when I say, 'I am not going to buy as much basil this year.' I bought as much, maybe even a little more than previous plantings. I just have to start making pesto earlier so not as much of the basil winds up in the freezer...I still have bags upon bags from last year! We bought cilantro, small, tiny leafed basil (never saw that before...powerful aroma), Thai basil, sweet basil, sweet red peppers, golden striped tomatoes (we'll see), along w/ the Roma's. And flowers for that punch of color out back, which was missing last year...purple, lavender petunias, and another small purple flower, whose name I forgot (I saved the little tab, but must have thrown it away). At any rate, they look very pretty. So, this years' garden is planted, watered, and ready to roll. I will most likely add a piece or two (or 3) as we go, but, deep sigh, a great feeling. Very very grateful.

The sparrows have laid 3 eggs in the wreath, so, now, we wait for 10 days or so for the little ones to hatch...ridiculously sweet!

I made the cards from the photos I took @ the Farmer's Market, from the Pezza Farm. I am so thrilled with the vibrant colors and the compositions of the cards! It is wonderful to paint a full canvas, a landscape, rather than a tight macro shot, which I have done so many times.

Pezza Farm Flowers

These photos were taken of the gorgeous bouquets of flowers which the Pezza Farm has been bringing to the Farmer's Market on Tuesdays. The sun was full and bright, and the flowers did the talking. These will be cards by tomorrow! I did tell Doreen Pezza, 'Hey you never know, these could be cards by next week...'. I printed the photos today, and will be on card patrol tomorrow (along w/ filling in some more inventory). I can't wait to show them to the Pezza Family on Tuesday!!

The River's Edge...On Consignment!!!

I met Jim Bradley at the Aspray Boathouse holiday show in December. His display was parallel to mine, so we had a chance to talk in between all the action. I knew I liked him when he made a joke about my giving him my last double chocolate Milano cookie. Yes, people, of course, I gave him the cookie.


Jim and his lovely wife, Nikki have a fabulous shop in town (Pawtuxet Village rocks), called The River's Edge Flowers & Gifts. The River's Edge Flowers utilizes only the freshest of the world's flowers, exceeding the ordinary and producing lasting memories. Whether it is a bouquet going to your sweetheart just to show you love them or a large event, such as a wedding.You can see from the photos just how fresh and gorgeous their flowers are. I was over there yesterday taking photos when Jim came in with a couple of boxes (see pic above), which he just picked up from the airport. Included, were Gerberer daisy's, which were like Siamese twins, each stem

was a double flower!

The store supports local artists as well where work is sold on consignment. I brought some of my framed 5x7 photos over earlier in the week. Nikki and Jim picked 5 and have hung them in unique spots throughout the store. They have so many artists on display,


including a large array of jewelry, from delicate wire work to scrabble piece pendants, handmade soaps (yeah for StellaMarie), ceramics, cards, handmade aprons, for children as well, unique handmade mobiles, candles, stained glass, paintings, and their own creations of melted vinyl records to be used

for bowls! .
