Let me start this post by telling you that we are fine. We do not live on the river or in a flood zone. That being said, Pawtuxet Village, where we bank, frequent our local watering hole, have my cards for sale in some of the quaint shops, is watching, and hearing this landmark river RAGE! This is the end of the River which empties into the Stillhouse Cove (the photos), which empties into the bay, which empties in to ocean. The flood levels are normally 9 feet and by tomorrow morning the Pawtuxet River is getting ready to crest at 20 feet! The sound alone is deafening. I'm not sure if these photos capture how deadly this current is right now. I will go back again tomorrow to take some more shots! Everyone on the East Coast, be careful out there!

I can imagine. We had record rainfall here yesterday (which is saying something, given our proximity to the rainforest), and at one point, pea sized hail. It was so loud, I could hear it pounding the roof inside the Target I was shopping in! Fortunately, where I live, there is little danger of flooding, as the paths Mother Nature carved out for water to follow have not been altered by man or machine. It's a bit of a different story in town, but then, we are used to a lot of rain here :)
Glad you all are safe - we are too in our area, but all the surrounding towns are experiencing the same thing. The rivers are all running way above flood stages with residents being evacuated all over the place. We count our blessings!
I just saw this morning that you're in for more wet weather. Hope you stay safe and dry.
Jennie, I'm so glad that where you live there is little danger of flooding...it's just terrible to see so many people having to deal w/ this...WOW, a record rainfall in the Pacific NW is saying something...I'm going back today to take some more pics...the River is higher than its been on over 100 years...historic!
Oh yes, Kathy...we are counting our blessings as well...this part of the River is totally down stream...the banks have overflowed onto 95 and it is shut down near TF Green Airport...you may have seen that on the news...I'm so glad that you are safe...the sun comes out tomorrow to help w/ all the drying out..:)
Thank you Secondary Roads for your good thoughts...we're actually looking forward to seeing the sun come out by tomorrow, along w/ a big warm up...but, the River is still cresting as we speak...a very rough situation for many...
