Mother's Day Origin..

'Arise then...women of this day!
Arise, all women who have hearts!
Whether your baptism be of water or of tears!
Say firmly:
“We will not have questions answered by irrelevant agencies,
Our husbands will not come to us, reeking with carnage,
For caresses and applause.
Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn
All that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.
We, the women of one country,
Will be too tender of those of another country
To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs.”

Julia Howe was also the author of 'The Battle Hymn of the Republic'. "Appeal to Womanhood" was a pacifist reaction to the carnage of the American Civil War. The modern Mother's Day was established by Anna Jarvis years later. She spent a significant amount of time writing to countless business executives, church groups, and politicians at the state and national level to promote the commemorative day After her persistent efforts, Mother’s Day was finally proclaimed a national holiday in 1914 by President Woodrow Wilson.

Happy Mother's Day

Thank you Laurel Justice!!
