Walking trail @ Garden of the Gods Ntl Park..

It is crystal clear that the beautiful skies in Colorado are a photographers playground. Yesterday was a gorgeous Autumn day. Jimmy and I took a long walk in Garden Of the Gods National Park. Some of the walking trails are still closed from the recent floods, but we took a trail, just above our normal route. There were still some muddy/running water patches, which we also navigated, thankfully without issue. I took numerous pics, posted a couple. But as gorgeous as yesterday was, the sunset last night was beyond beautiful. People say that Colorado is 'God's country'. Well if ever there was any doubt, these pics should quell your doubts. I did minimal editing, really. I have never seen the light quite like this. So, may the photos speak for themselves!!!

The garden is planted, and with some tweaking here and there, I seem to be off to a good start. It is lovely to see all that green when I come downstairs in the morning, knowing that it will fill out over the next couple of months. With that work behind us, we had a 'free' afternoon yesterday and just took off in the car. I am constantly in awe of the beautiful open spaces, the lush rolling hills with the mountain as a backdrop, midst all the very populated sub-divisions. You really do not have to go far at all to be outside of the populated areas, which is exactly what we did yesterday. We took another route through the Black Forest. The Black Forest, hmmmmm, sounds so ominous, but is quite beautiful. Some hidden, well spaced homes, all with the million dollar view of the mountains.  On the Black Forest road, which cuts through the entire forest, there are some wide open spaces, 'as far as the eye can see'. Breathtaking. To finish the day, a striking sunset, crystal clear light, great photo op. Sadly, the eggs have been stolen from the nest, probably by a bluejay. A great time it was, however, and grateful to have been able to record what I could through the eye of a camera!

Today was one of those days. Everywhere I turned, the sky just took my breath away. I might sound as if I am repeating myself, but it is worth noting over and over again that the Colorado skies really are breathtaking. I did the same thing with the ocean, didn't I?? Just a normal day of errands, and I had, to stop. I stopped at the corner, as I made the turn from our house. I stopped as I left our sub-division. I stopped as I drove to the bank. I had the red light long enough to get a pic of the 'horse sculpture'. I love this sculpture of the 5 horses, captured in the breeze, perched on a hill, with the mountains in the background. Stunning!! We have been here for over a year now and this was the first chance I had, where there were no cars going by, (a very busy intersection) the sky was gorgeous, and in a split second, I got it! The mountains looked like there was a spotlight hovering over the snow caps all day. Very dramatic. I had to stop.We are expecting some much needed rain over the next couple of days, and the clouds have rolled in. You can see the progression with the day. Major photo op. Really glad I took the time to stop, even just for a simple 'snap'; gotcha!!!
